The First International Conference for Haitian Relief Efforts
Excerpt from today's story
Port - au - Prince was practically leveled to the ground as well as other sectors of Haiti when the nation went through the worst earthquake that rocked the nation in well over 200 years. The entire infrastructure collapsed. The country is in panic mode. Over 200, 000 deaths reported. People are displaced all over the island. The most basic needs of the people such as food and shelter are lacking. The people are disheartened, discouraged and wonder from one day to the next if they will be able to get food. So many caravans come and go but not all the people are lucky enough to get the food they need.

Abused Men: A Domestic Reality
Excerpt from today's story
How many men are abused in a relationship?
Many men are afraid to call the police for fear that they will be laughed at. Therefore, so many cases go unreported. We may not have a clear understanding of just how many men are actually being abused in a domestic situation. However, modern research is suggesting that the division is more 50/50 rather than previous thought that one third of the men in a marriage or relationship are abused.

Issues Facing Caregivers
Excerpt from today's story
To meet the financial needs of their families they must work outside of the home, run a household, and take care of an aging parent. The balancing act does not always run smoothly. Yet, these caregivers cannot just toss their aging parents aside. A parent is more than a legal result sought after from DNA testing. Parents have an emotional bond to their children and visa versa.

Time Management: A big issue is how to get everything done that needs to be done, again support groups can help you to manage your time. They may have suggestions on how to work around the family's needs and the needs of the sick or disabled person in your charge. They will give you tips on how to prioritize your day and even delegate household chores to other family members. They may suggest that you hire a nurse or assistant if you need to and can afford it to further assist you.
