Today's Story:  

Rallies to help the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake

Excerpt from today's story

The 7.0 level earthquake, which happened in Haiti on Tuesday, has been the focal point of the news worldwide. The Red Cross estimates 50,000 people have already died so far. The physical needs of the survivors are tremendous. The Haitian Capital has been devastated; families have lost their homes and all their belongings. Food, clothing, money and water are needed.

Genetic Testing For Alzheimer's Disease

 One of the newest tests available for Alzheimer's patients involves gene testing, otherwise known as DNA testing. Alzheimer's disease is a neurological disorder, which impairs both memory and the thinking processes in the brain.

  One of the many issues often facing families' today centers around having to care for an elderly family member who is suffering from memory loss. Adult children are fraught with very hard decisions to make. Elderly parents may become so debilitated they no longer can run a household.

Actually the good news is that ALS will be genetically transferred unto only a small percentage of family descendants whereas 90% of adult onset ALS has not genetic component.

Today's Story:      

The Many Uses for Forensic DNA Testing

Forensic DNA testing requires the analysis of thirteen different specters often called loci. Different loci will be tested depending upon the actual DNA data extracted from the crime scene. This composite of DNA test samples is actually quite accurate in pinpointing the individual bearing that genetic composition. The result of the sampling is referred to as the individual's DNA footprint.

Balancing Work and Home Life

 Your children's mental, emotional and physical needs must be met. Of course the physical needs require that they have food, shelter and clothing to wear among other things. This means that even though you might want to spend all day at home with your children, it may not be possible, especially if you are a single parent. Most people have to work to maintain the standard of living they desire.
